History
Nineteen years ago, members of the Mission Valley Rotary Club noticed that there was a striking level of confusion surrounding climate change in the public discourse. As a part of the rotary “four-way test” these members were committed to the finding out “Is it the truth?” Therefore they decided to form a Climate Change committee and approach the then director of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Dr. Ed Frieman, to see if SIO would like to team with Rotary to bring the public the most current scientific “truths” about climate change to the public of San Diego.
Dr. Frieman was delighted with the partnership, and our project was born. Nineteen years later we have become a strong member of the community in San Diego and played a pivotal role in shaping many of the “green” steps that the city has taken. We have a strong board of directors populated with scientists, business leaders, lawyers, community activist, engineers and political leaders.
